Calling lawmakers is easier than you might think! Use the scripts below to quickly and clearly communicate your support for pending legislation.
- Always be polite and professional
- State if you are a constituent of the Senator or Delegate
- Stick to the script! You won't need to convince anyone of the merits of the bill. The person answering is usually a staffer who is simply tallying calls in support or against.
- Find your State Senator and State Delegate.
Script for your State Senator:
Hi! I'm a constituent of Senator (Last Name) and I'm calling to ask the Senator to vote YES on the proposed amendments to SB1406 and HB2312. Thanks so much and have a great day!
Script for your State Delegate:
