#2 Michele Leonhart
Possibly the only public official more reviled than the drug czar is the DEA Administrator. Created by President Nixon to enforce the new Controlled Substances Act, the DEA has since become a symbol of oppression and regressive public policy. Michele Leonhart is the current Administrator, and not a very good one, judging by her inability to articulate and support the smarter sentencing initiatives of her bosses, AG Holder and President Obama. She even went so far as to criticize the President for his remark that cannabis was no more harmful than alcohol. With such a high profile job and unprecedented ignorance of reality, Ms. Leonhart may find herself cruising into the Finals.
#6 Debbie Wasserman Schultz
Florida Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz is a dark horse in the tournament, having earned her bracket appointment primarily through an atypically boneheaded political move, complaining that the medical marijuana initiative on Florida’s ballot could lead to “abuse, fraud and accidents." This led a former major donor of hers to not only give up support, but to become an active opponent of her political aspirations for U.S. Senate. And now it is alleged that Rep. Wasserman Schultz is trying to repair the relationship via typical Washington politics, with an offer to change her position in return for election support. Is it any wonder that Americans despise Congress?
Its choosing time.
